Roche to Present New Lung and Breast Cancer Trial Results at ESMO 2026

Late-stage trial data may help clarify the future role of targeted therapies in selected cancers.

Reuters reported on 19 October that Roche plans to present new cancer-trial results at the upcoming European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2026 congress. The planned presentations include data on divarasib for lung cancer, giredestrant for breast cancer and an experimental combination known as Tam-Peli.

Cancer treatment increasingly depends on identifying the biological features of a tumour and matching patients with therapies designed to target them. Clinical trial results are important because they help establish whether a treatment improves outcomes compared with existing options and whether the benefits outweigh potential side effects.

According to Reuters, Roche plans to present late-stage trial data on divarasib, a targeted therapy being studied for lung cancer involving the KRAS G12C mutation. The company also plans to report findings on giredestrant, an investigational oral treatment for certain breast cancers, and on the experimental Tam-Peli combination for difficult-to-treat tumours.

The report describes data scheduled for presentation, so the findings should not be treated as newly approved treatment options. Clinicians will need to examine the full trial results, including the patient groups studied, the size of the benefit, adverse effects and how the therapies compare with current standards of care.

Patients should not change existing cancer treatment based on conference announcements or company summaries alone. Their oncologist can explain whether a targeted treatment or clinical trial is relevant to their diagnosis.
