Artificial intelligence and digital tools are increasingly being discussed as ways to organise medical information, support research and improve healthcare delivery. In Ayurveda, potential applications include digitising clinical records, structuring information about traditional formulations and practices, supporting research databases, and helping clinicians document patient assessments. The conference at ITRA brought together national and international experts to discuss the responsible use of AI in Ayurveda and its possible role in research and healthcare services. This is a health-technology and research-development story rather than a clinical trial proving that an Ayurvedic treatment cures a particular disease. For AI tools to be useful in healthcare, their outputs need to be checked for accuracy, bias and safety. Traditional treatments also require appropriate evidence on their effectiveness, dosage, quality, interactions and potential adverse effects. Digitising a treatment description does not establish that the treatment works. Patients should tell their healthcare professionals about any Ayurvedic medicines or supplements they use, particularly if they also take prescription medicines or have liver, kidney or other chronic conditions. Traditional therapies should not replace necessary evidence-based treatment for serious illnesses without medical advice.
